CV: Michael de Bouw holds a MSc in Civil Engineering and Architecture (VUB), and a PhD in Engineering Sciences (VUB) with regard to the assessment of historic buildings. Since 2010 he’s professor at the University of Antwerp within the Master of Heritage Sciences, where he is in charge of several technical courses and the supervision of different PhDs. Besides his appointment at the University of Antwerp, he is Deputy Head of Laboratory at the Lab of Retrofitting of Belgian Building Research Institute (BBRI) where he is in charge of several topics and projects related to heritage.

Next to this he is also member of the Flemish Commission for Monuments and Landscapes (VCOE) and of the European Committee for Standardization: CEN/TC 346 “Conservation of Cultural Heritage” – Working Group 8 “Energy efficiency of historic buildings”.
